Do you want to contribute to innovative automation in the logistics sector and make a real impact on our operational efficiency? At Van den Bosch, we are looking for a Data Science / Computer Science Intern to work on the optimization of order progress tracking.
Accurate shipment tracking is essential for our customers and planners to optimize their logistics planning. Your assignment? To explore whether GPS tracker signals and geofencing technology can replace manual time logging—enhancing accuracy, reliability, and efficiency in our logistics processes.
By using GPS tracking combined with geofencing, shipments can automatically log timestamps when passing predefined locations. This eliminates manual input and provides real-time tracking, improved data reliability, and more efficient planning capabilities.
During your internship, you will dive into the world of logistics automation. You’ll first examine our current manual time-tracking methods to identify improvement opportunities and understand how technology can optimize these processes. Next, you will explore how GPS tracking and geofencing can be integrated into our operations. You’ll compare available systems and analyze which solutions best meet our needs.
Based on your findings, you’ll provide a clear recommendation report with concrete suggestions for the most suitable technology. You’ll then test your proposed solution in collaboration with our Operations and ICT teams—allowing you to combine theoretical research with practical implementation in our day-to-day operations. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to broader digitalization and automation projects, truly making an impact on our logistics processes.
